Editorial Reviews

A C C E P T A N C E - The value of playing hockey is more than the score of any game, it’s also about building friendships, getting up when you fall, and learning to work together with others as a team. I was fortunate to have played 15 seasons in the National Hockey League. When I look back, I realize how important the game was to the development of who I am today – it instilled a sense of dedication, perseverance and compassion into everything I do. When the NHL joined together with hockey leaders from around the world to create The Declaration of Principles, the hockey community recognized acceptance as one of the core principles in the game. Acceptance has been important on every team I’ve played on, from youth to the professionals. Accepting others is more than simply inviting them to join. It means making sure everyone feels welcome, comfortable, and supported to be their true selves. In Who’s Hockey, we see Cam living the principle of acceptance by recognizing what makes others unique – their skills and potential – and brings together a diverse group of new friends through the sport. Whether you love hockey already, or are new to the game entirely, we can all learn something from Cam’s story. Pat LaFontaine Hockey Hall of Fame – 2003
